Hard-to-Find (Rare) Hardcover Book entitled - BEGINNER'S DICTIONARY OF CHINESE-JAPANESE CHARACTERS - With Common Abbreviations, Variants and Numerous Compounds - Compiled by Arthur Rose-Innes - American Edition - Cambridge, MA - Harvard University Press - 1950 - World War II caused the U.S. to be cut off from sources of supply and the need for Japanese dictionaries was greatly increased. To meet this need, the Dept. of Far Eastern Languages of Harvard undertook this project, the funds for which were supplied by the Rockefeller Foundation. There is a nice introduction in the front. It has the signature of Lt. William Bowen in the front with a note with characters and an explanation. Condition: Good with the cover scuffed and coming away from the spine; all pages intact.
