Antique Japanese Cast Iron Tea Ceremony Kettle with 'Arare' ( Hailstone) Pattern - Signed. The kettle and lid with'arare', (hailstone) pattern and used for warming water during the 'tea ceremony', iron rings; the lid with a decorative knop. It has wonderful patina. Raised signature in a rectangular reserve on the side, unread.
Condition: Very Good as would be commensurate with age and use; some rust present to the interior, as would beconsistent with age and use. It would make a nice addition to any Collection !

ANTIQUE JAPANESE NAGA HATA (Long) BANNER/FLAG
Maru ni ken katabami Crest - Meiji/Taisho
Antique Japanese Naga Hata (Long) Banner or Flag - Meiji/Taisho - 16.8 Ft. - This amazing banner is constructed from a thick cotton cloth; Ivory and Black ( probably originally white) with a large Katabami (Wood Sorrel) mon (Crest). Also known as the 'mirror' plant, this trifoliate clover-like leaf was very popular with the warrior class, especially when a blade was introduced into the depiction of the flower itself, as it is in this crest. It's called the 'Maru ni ken katabami'. It measures approx. 16 ft. 8 in x 25 1/2 in. The width including the loops is 29 1/2 in. wide. It is so long, that in order to photograph it, it was wrapped the top over a little to secure it, and some stones were placed at the bottom to hold it. Condition is very good; light soil is present as would be commensurate with age and use; the white is more ivory colored now, some small to tiny holes present. It's a great banner.

Antique Japanese Sentoku (Bronze) Hishoku-Gata Style Yatate, late 19th /early 20th c. - With rich brown patina, the long tubular moulded hollow stem handle issuing from the head of a beast, with pierced sides and a moulded loop for attachment, the squat body with relief designs of lions on the sides, and a hinged cover surmounted by Uchide no kozuchi, Daikoku’s ‘lucky’ mallet,and opening to reveal the basin for the sumi, (ink) and the fude (brush); Unsigned. Condition: Excellent, as would be commensurate with age and use; no brush. A nice addition to any collection.

Signed Yoshitora ga in a red Toshidama cartouche; Publisher Maruya Tetsujiro and with date seal. Condition: Very Good, Fine impression, mounted in a soft beige silk mat; light stain to the bottom of the mat.
